Blackout – the cutting-edge Copenhagen Jazz Label

The independent label Blackout Music was founded in 2005 by Emil Jørgensen (ex-
drummer in the Danish band Swan Lee), with the objective of developing new musical
talent toward national and international careers.
Blackout has its core focus on Scandinavian jazz, centered around a bunch of talented
local musicians with proven international potential, some performing with a certain “Nordic
tone”, others like they just blew in from New York. Refreshing revelations, either way.

Energy, dynamics, nocturnal moods and diversity are some of the elements
that characterize Blackout’s often evocative and colorful releases.
A good portion of the music could be written as an original soundtrack for an infinitely
beautiful, but never filmed romantic drama, steaming with longing, joy and sorrow. Hear
for yourself!

Besides Blackout, Emil Jørgensen runs two other sub-labels, Whiteout Music, with its
focus on pop/rock acts, and Optical, focusing on electronic music.
